Pre-Kindergarten Program
For children 4 years of age by December 1st
Little Lights Christian Preschool’s pre-kindergarten program offers a balanced approach to early elementary school skills. Our Pre-Kindergarten program is recommended by many local Kindergarten teachers. Our curriculum was designed to cover what local kindergarten teachers expect their students to know both academically and socially. As in all of our classes daily activities include further development of fine, gross and sensory motor skills. Pre-Kindergarten goals include alphabet recognition and writing as well as recognizing the phonetic blends associated with emergent reading skills. Number concepts are taught through hands-on experience with manipulative and concrete objects. A strong emphasis is put on recognizing math in the child’s every day world. Our carefully planned lessons encourage students to think creatively, scientifically, and independently . Children will be equipped to form decisions and to develop a strong curiosity toward learning. Since we recognize the importance of this time in a child’s educational journey we choose to maintain our low class size of sixteen students to two teachers in our pre-kindergarten program. This ratio provides each child with the opportunity to truly develop through both peer and teacher directed interactions on a daily basis.
